11 Movies I'm Excited For.

So, looking at new releases for the rest of the year, it looks like there are a lot of movies coming out that I’m really excited to see.  This is a list of the top 11 that I’m looking forward to.

11. My Soul To Take
Releases: October 8th
Directed by: Wes Craven
Stars: Max Thieriot, John Magaro, Denzel Whitaker, and Zena Grey
Plot: A serial killer returns to his hometown to stalk seven children who share the same birthday as the date he was allegedly put to rest.
What makes it exciting: It’s Wes Craven back to doing what he does best, which is directing crazy awesome slasher movies.  He hasn’t done a slasher since Scream 3 in 2000.
Here’s the trailer:

10. Paranormal Activity 2
Releases: October 22nd
Directed by: Tod Williams
Stars: Unknown at this time.
Plot: After experiencing what they think are a series of "break-ins", a family sets up security cameras around their home, only to realize that the events unfolding before them are more sinister than they seem.
What makes it exciting: All of the mystery that shrouds this movie is what makes me excited.  It’s being kept such a secret that the cast hasn’t even been announced, and it comes out in just over 2 weeks.  Plus, from the looks of things, it may be the little boy who is being possessed this time.
Here’s the trailer:

9. Black Swan
Releases: December 1st
Directed by: Darren Aronofsky
Stars: Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, and Vincent Cassel
Plot: A thriller that zeros in on the relationship between a veteran ballet dancer and a rival.
What makes it exciting:  It’s another Darren Arnofsky film, and he always makes good films.  Plus, it just looks like it will be intense.
Here’s the trailer:

8. TRON: Legacy
Releases: December 17th
Directed by: Joseph Kosinski
Stars: Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, and Michael Sheen
Plot: Sam Flynn, the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn, looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years.
What makes it exciting:  The original TRON movie was awful.  Let’s admit that first off.  This one, looks incredible.  The CGI is insane, and it actually looks entertaining.
Here’s the trailer:

7. True Grit
Releases: December 25th
Directed by: Joel and Ethan Coen
Stars: Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin
Plot: Following the murder of her father by hired hand Tom Chaney, 14-year-old farm girl Mattie Ross sets out to capture the killer. To aid her, she hires the toughest U.S. marshal she can find, a man with "true grit," Reuben J. "Rooster" Cogburn.
What makes it exciting: Joel and Ethan Coen, Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin…remaking an old John Wayne movie…what’s not to be excited about?

6. Skyline

Directed by: Colin and Greg Strause
Stars: Eric Balfour, Donald Faison, Scottie Thompson, and David Zayas
Plot: Strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth.
What makes it exciting: The Strause brothers directed, produced, and supervised over the special effects for this movie.  Plus, it’s Turk in a feature length movie (I know, he won’t be playing Turk, but it’s still him in my heart.”
Here’s the trailer:

5. 127 Hours
Releases: November 5th
Directed by: Danny Boyle
Stars: James Franco, Kate Mara, and Lizzy Caplan
Plot: The true story of mountain climber Aron Ralston's remarkable adventure to save himself after a fallen boulder crashes on his arm and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah.
What makes it exciting: This is going to be another one of those movies where the majority of the movie will take place in one spot.  Plus, it’s a true story and Aron Ralston himself consulted on the movie.
Here’s the trailer:

4. Due Date
Releases: November 5th
Directed by: Todd Phillips
Stars: Robert Downey, Jr., Zach Galifianakis, and Michelle Monaghan
Plot: High-strung father-to-be Peter Highman is forced to hitch a ride with aspiring actor Ethan Tremblay on a road trip in order to make it to his child's birth on time.
What makes it exciting: Todd Phillips and Zach Galifianakis teaming up for another movie, but this time with RDJ…it looks like it will be a road trip style movie, mixed with The Hangover.  Plus, Zach Galifianakis is always funny, no matter what he’s doing.
Here’s the trailer:

3. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
Releases: November 19th
Directed by: David Yates
Stars: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Ralph Fiennes
Plot: Voldemort's power is growing stronger. He now has control over the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts. Harry, Ron, and Hermione decide to finish Dumbledore's work and find the rest of the Horcruxes to defeat the Dark Lord.
What makes it exciting: I haven’t read the book, so I don’t know what to expect, but this movie looks bad-ass.  Plus, the movie is being split up into 2 films.  So we’ll be getting another 5 hours or so of Harry Potter before the series is over.
Here’s the trailer:

2. Saw 3D
Releases: October 29th
Directed by: Kevin Greutert

Plot: As a deadly battle rages over Jigsaw's brutal legacy, a group of Jigsaw survivors gathers to seek the support of self-help guru and fellow survivor Bobby Dagen, a man whose own dark secrets unleash a new wave of terror.
What makes it exciting:  Dr. Gordon is back!  For those of you who actually like these movies, you will recognize him from the first movie, where he leaves the room (footless) and we never see or hear from him again.  But they’re finally bringing him back to wrap up the entire story for the Saw series…and yes, this will 99% surely be the last of the series.  Unless it somehow makes millions, which it won’t.
Here’s the trailer:

Yeah, that's totally Chester Bennington from Linkin Park.

1. Jackass 3D
Releases: October 15th
Directed by: Jeff Tremaine
Stars: Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Bam Margera, and Chris Pontius
